We have just released the 2.4 version of our powerful anti decompiler for VB 6 executables.
The new version fully supports MS Windows 7.

The work is underway for the 3.0 version with even stronger protection, full AcitveX DLL and OCX support and a fix for a rare bug on non-English versions of MS Windows.

How and Why is it Possible to Unlock Access MDE Files

MS Access MDE applications keep the forms and reports in the same format as the source files (MDB, ADP and ACCDB files). The MDE/ADE/ACCDE formats are almost the same as the MDB/ADP/ACCDB file formats.

However, the ability to make design changes and to add new forms/reports is locked in all MDE applications.

Our Unlock Access MDE Design software can remove this lock and allow users to make design changes to MDE applications.

Please don't forget to re-lock the MDE applications after editing.

Access MDE Applications

MS Access MDE applications are compiled Access applications. They behave somewhat differently then source (MDB, ACCDB and ADP) applications.

Let me explain some of the differences:

The VBA source code is removed by Access when an MDE application is created from the source file. The code is not hidden, it is simply not there. All that is left is VBA p-code, a sort of byte code used to run the VBA code logic.

The VBA source can be reverse-engineered from the VBA p-code and the identifier names (Sub, Function, Property, Const, Types and variables) can be recovered from a part of the file that is used by VBA in Access source files and other VBA host applications).
We do not offer an MDE decompilation service at the present time.

The design view of forms and reports is locked, but the forms and reports still exist in the source file's format.
Our Unlock Access MDE Design software can unlock them for changes.
Access tables, queries and macros can be edited without unlocking of the MDE application.

The VBA project, including the project references is locked.
Unlocking the project is useless, since the code is gone, this would only increase the probability of damages to the application.
The VBA password of the original VBA project is also gone.

Access MDE applications are, based on our experience, more stabile and robust then the source files and offer reasonably good security for the VBA code.

How is it possible that a long and complex VBA password can be removed from a VBA project in seconds?

When a VBA password is provided to protect the VBA project, it causes a protection signature to be written to the file.
A locked VBA project uses a different, but similar signature.
The protection signature depends on the password, but the VBA code is not encrypted with the password. However, the protection is a part of the VBA project.

Our Remove VBA Password, removes this protection from the file, securely and instantly.

Trying to remove the protection without a good knowledge of the VBA protection scheme may result in damages to the VBA project and to other parts of the file.
However, nothing prevents a good VBA password recovery tool from removing the password in a blink of an eye.

We have released the 2.0 version of our Unlock Access MDE Design 2.0 software.

Now, any ADE application is unlocked instantly, without a need to repeat the unlocking process.

- we improved the support for buttons on Excel sheets and added support for password protected VBA projects
- currenty, we are working on Office 2007 support

- we have found a new way of protecting a VBA application (whole document) from software that can read VBA code from the file, so this may be a new edition of Protect VBA Code or a separate product

Unlock Access MDE Design

- we are working on instant and complete unlocking of any ADE file, regardless of the file size, complexitly and connection availability
- the new version is comming soon

Remove VBA Password

- we have added some small improvements in the current version
- we are working on support for many common file formats in the next versions of the sofware

Protect Access ACCDE

- this could be a new product; now in prototype mode
- it will enable Access 2007 developers to completely lock down their applications preventing unauthorised access to objects, external manipulation of the application, ACCDE unlocking and decompilation

New Web Site is Uploaded

Finally, I have finished the first version of the new web site.
Some pages are still based on the old ones, but most of the site is reworked.

The main advantage of the new site is in the amount of information that it provides.

- We print only the documents that must be printed and try to use both sides of the paper, if possible.

- Our computers, printers, monitors and other devices go to power saving mode, if not used for a while and are shut down/turned off after the work hours are over.
